About Us
Basement Jiu Jitsu is a nationwide Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association in spirit under the guidance of a handful of JJ dropouts, who received their blue or purple or brown belts sometime in the last 10 years.
The mission of Basement Jiu Jitsu is to provide a theorist-free environment for our members to practice jiu jitsu in the way it was meant to be done - in a competitive environment, with wins and losses, and pride up for grabs. There are time limits, athletic abilities, and trash talk - you will be told if you suck. Our vision is to unlock the full competitive nature of our members.
The word 'Basement' comes from archaic Dutch basement, perhaps from Italian basamento column base and is used in our name because it is where we do our Jiu Jitsu.
